Hi - currently in discussion with an insurer re a mechanical warranty and would like to understand the process from the mechanics side as I want the cash to buy parts and will fix it myself for a fraction of the estimate from a dealer. If I have to have the dealer do the repair it will cost me a further $5K on top and that will make the total repair woirth more than the car.

Does anyone know if the insurer will pay cash to me or potentially just for the parts?
